According to Webster’s dictionary, learning is to gain or acquire knowledge of or skill in (something) by study, experience, or being taught. I believe that during my first semester at VCU as a fashion merchandising student, I’ve learned so much more in 5 months than I have in 4 years of high school.
I was able to learn about what I love most, and that’s fashion. I learned that a lot of the fashion industry moves quickly, it’s always changing and new trends and fads are becoming prevalent. Because of this, it is imperative to always be searching through the news and magazines like women’s wear daily and staying on social media so I’m able to keep up with trends and what’s happening in the world of fashion.
I’ve also learned about all of the different categories of fashion including apparel, accessories, menswear, beauty, even home decor! I’m extremely grateful for all of the knowledge I’ve accumulated about fashion during this semester, and I cannot wait to use it in the future and apply my knowledge to my career.
